Reproduction bird's-eye view map of Frankfort, New York, drawn and published by Lucien R. Burleigh in 1887. The Herkimer County town of Frankfort, named after early settler Lawrence Frank, features the Erie Canal along its north boundary. Settled in the early 1700's and re-settled in the late 1700's, Frankfort's uplands were found to be rich with lime, slate and calciferous sandstone. In 1847, William Gates established a successful friction match factory in Frankfort that is noted on the map.

This map shows buildings, clearly labeled street names and railway routes.
