Historic Map - New York City, NY - 1879

New York. J. W. Williams, del.

This reproduction panorama map of New York was drawn by J. W. Williams for Root & Tinker in 1879. It features a bird's-eye view of New York four years before the Brooklyn Bridge was completed. From Washington Square northward on Fifth, Madison and Lexington avenues and Broadway constant views of superb churches, residences and business palaces could be seen. 23rd St. was graced with the buildings of the Y. M. C. A., the Masonic Temple, Booth's Theatre, the Musical College and Art Gallery, while adjacent Fourth Avenue, in 1879, was crowded with elegant churches and hotels. Root & Tinker were proprietors of The Clothier and Hatter, 86 Duane Street, New York.

This beautifully colored panoramic view map of New York from 1879 shows streets, buildings, and shipping traffic.
