Description

Bay Side Park, 3d ward, borough of Queens, New York City.

This reproduction bird's-eye view map of "Bay Side Park", including Queens, New York was published around 1915 by the North Shore Realty Co. Queens lies on the west side of Long Island and is the largest of New York City's boroughs. This realty plat map shows Queens six years after it was linked by bridge to Manhattan by way of the "Queensboro" or "59th Street Bridge". In 1915, commuting to and from the borough was taking a major turn with the addition of the Steinway Tunnel and its final adjustments to include subway trains. Northeastern Queens is home to the New York Metropolitan area's oldest and tallest living tree, "Queens Giant", a 450 year old, Tulip Poplar located in Alley Pond Park.

This aero-view map from around 1915 shows buildings, clearly labeled streets, railroad routes and numbered plats. The map shows top and bottom illustrations or photographs of:

Residence of G. Waldo Smith, Bayside Park
Residence of Alderman Otten

Bell Avenue in Bayside Village

Opening Streets and Avenues in Bayside Park
Bayside Public School
