Reproduction view of Cincinnati, Ohio by John L. Trout, published in 1900 by Henderson Lithographing Co.. After the American Civil War, Cincinnati prospered in its production of iron. It also was an important meatpacking, woodworking and millinery town. The Little Miami Railroad began serving Cincinnati in 1836 and by 1900, more than 15 railroads linked Cincinnati to other parts of the country. Cincinnati had the densest population of any city in the U. S. at the time, and the city was becoming a cultural center; adding an art museum and art academy, a conservatory of music and music hall along with a public library and zoo. Cincinnati was home to William Howard Taft.
