Description

Railroad and Express Map of the Middle States.

This map showing portions of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Lower Canada was drawn and published in 1867 by G.W. & C.B. Colton & Co. for Chicago publisher Rufus Blanchard.

Blanchard was a well-known map publisher who fashioned the popular “Citizen’s Guide for the City of Chicago” in 1868. Blanchard later published “History of the Northwest” and his detailed “History of Illinois”, which were well received books.

Displayed in this map are cities, towns, counties, waterways, express lines and offices, and railroads.
