are the highlights of interest in this perspective view map of Northwest Alexandria,
Virginia in the 1890's (actual date does not appear). The Library of
Congress stamp is dated 1902. The capital building can be seen in the
distance, across the Potomac River. The "Proposed Mount Vernon" road
leading to the Memorial Bridge is shown. The "Station North West
Alexandria" is illustrated. Newly platted land parcels are indicated
among the streets labeled: Salem Avenue, Braddock Street, Luray
Avenue, Linden Avenue, Washington Avenue, Lloyd Avenue, Orchard Street,
Maple Street, Royal Avenue, Arlington Avenue, Richland Avenue, West Street,
Cherry Street, Potomac Street, West Street, as well as Second, Third and
Fourth Streets.
This beautiful map provides a look at the early days of the city.
