How to Install - Peel & Stick Fabric Wall Murals

Step 1 - Prepare Your Wall

Be sure to start with a clean wall by wiping off any dust, dirt, or other residue with a dry cloth. The adhesive backing on our fabric wall murals works best with a clean DRY wall. This will allow for the mural to maintain an optimal stickiness if you need to re-position it later. You'll want to also remove any wall fixtures.

Our self-adhesive fabric is very versatile and will stick to virtually any painted surface. (Note: wall mural will not hide the walls texture or imperfections, a smooth surface is ideal). Allow at least 30 days for a newly painted surface to dry, bubbles may occur if the paint is still outgassing/flashing off. Not recommend for use on brick, non-painted cement, or heavy painted spackled wall board. Results will vary on stucco and eggshell painted surfaces.

Step 2 - Peel Adhesive Backing on Panel

If the mural is smaller than the wall size you may want to first make a level guideline on the wall as you would when hanging a picture frame or poster. If doing full wall install you can align to the top of the wall.

Start by peeling off just a couple inches of the adhesive backing across the top of the first panel, and crease it down leaving the adhesive exposed..

You are now ready to apply the first panel of your new wall mural.

Step 3 - Apply First Panel to Wall

Take the top edge of the panel and apply it in the location on your wall where you would like the mural to begin (typically top left corner of the wall). Using your hand and a gentle touch initially, press the panel to the wall.

It is easiest to work your way down the length of the panel in sections, gradually pulling down the backing as you progress. Smooth it out from the center outwards as you go using your hand or a smoothing tool to avoid wrinkles and bubbling.

Step 4 - Applying Second Panel

After installing the first panel make sure any bubbling or wrinkles are removed by pushing them outward.

The second panel is installed by aligning it with the first, each panel has approximately 1/2 an inch of overlap to make lining things up easier. Repeat the previous steps for each mural panel. Each panel is numbered on the back and a panel guide is included with the mural.

Step 5 - Removing or Realigning Mural

If you find that a panel is not lined up properly or you need to move the mural to another location, not a problem. Our peel & stick fabric murals have a removable adhesive that leaves no residue or damage to walls and can easily by re-applied.

To re-position a mural panel slowly and gently lift it from the wall keeping it as flat and parallel to the wall as possible. Once lifted simply re-apply it in the new position or location, but be careful not to get anything stuck to the adhesive.

Step 6 - (Optional) Double-cut Overlapping Seams

As an optional step you can trim off the excess material that overlaps each panel. Starting at the top place a straight edge in the middle of where the two panels overlap. Using a sharp razor blade make a single cut through both layers of the overlap. Peel away the outer strip of excess material. Then lift the edge of the panel and remove the remaining excess material from underneath.

Smooth the panel back into place and enjoy a much less prominent seam between each panel.
