Description

State of Alabama.

This railroad map of Alabama was produced by the Department of the Interior and first printed by Bowen & Co. of Philadelphia in 1866.

The map indicates Land Grant railroads and notes that the "whole central region of this state is underlaid with iron ore, in vast beds. There are also coal measures of great thickness and extent. Lead ore is also found."

Alabama would ratify its new constitution in February of 1868 and be readmitted to the Union.
