This panoramic print of Washington, DC and vicinity was drawn and published by A. Sachse & Co. around 1883. Washington DC was a growing capital city along the Potomac River in the 1880's as modern improvements continued.

Streets were paved and a sewer system built. Electric lighting was installed in 1879. Washington gained 900 subscribers of the newly formed Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company in 1883.

The illustration shows Georgetown, the Capitol building, government buildings, Potomac waterfront, Foggy Bottom and military arsenal grounds.
