View of Moline, Rock Island County, I.L., 1869 / drawn & published by A. Ruger.

This panoramic print of Moline, Illinois was drawn by Albert Ruger and published by Chicago Lith. Co. in 1869. The industrious town of Moline was designated in the 1830's as water power was generated along the Mississippi River at that point, affording manufacturing possibilities.

John Deere relocated his valuable plow works to Moline in 1843. The company soon branched into other agricultural implement manufactures to become a leading employer of the area.

The map includes labeled streets, buildings and railroad route. Riverboat and barge activity is displayed in the foreground with featured steamers “Dubuque” and “Savanah”. The central inset illustration is of the Public School.
