Description

St. Louis in '93.

Reproduction panorama map of the city known as St. Louis, MO, drawn by Fred Graf. St. Louis' steamboats have dominated the river-way trade for seventy-five years by 1893. Its railways and factories have taken over the skyline. In 1892 the Wainwright Building is completed at Seventh Street and Chestnut. Designed by Louis Sullivan, the ten-story structure still stands today and is used as a Missouri government office building.

The dramatic color image features lively scenes of riverboat, railway, carriage and pedestrian traffic. Visible damage from missing corner is left un-retouched.
