Reproduction panoramic view of Camden, New York, drawn by Lucien R. Burleigh and published by Beck & Pauli Litho. in 1885. The first mills in Camden were erected in 1797, at the time when the village in Oneida County was called "Mexico". In 1799, the town was renamed Camden and began to attract manufacturers. Foundries were erected in the early 1800's and by 1850 Camden was connected to Rome, NY by rail. In 1885, Camden had several fine furniture manufacturers and two corn canning factories.
