Reproduction bird's-eye view map of Canastota, New York, drawn by Lucien R. Burleigh and published by C. H. Vogt & Son in 1885. Originally settled in 1810 and re-organized in 1870, Canastota began as a village for farmers of onions and potatoes, until the Erie Canal was constructed through town. This brought several industries to the area making it boom with construction. Businesses included Canastota Cut-Glass Co. and Sherwood Sleds and Wagons. In 1874 the Canastota Knife Co. was founded on Peterboro St.

This map from 1885 features an inset illustration of intersection of Center and Peterboro Sts. It includes clearly labeled street names and shows railroad routes.
