Reproduction aero-view map of Farmingdale, New York, drawn by Rene Cinquin and published by Metropolitan Aero-View Co. in 1925. The village of Farmingdale in Nassau County was incorporated in 1904. The New York State Agricultural and Technical School was established here in 1912. The Lenox Hills golf course designed by Devereaux Emmet opened in 1923, just two years before this map was published. This map from 1925 includes the following "booster" statement in the lower left margin:
"Farmingdale is one of Long Island's most attractive, healthful and prosperous villages. Beautifully situated on Main Line Long Island R. R. 30m. from New York and 8m. from Great South Bay and the Ocean and 8m. from L. I. Sound.
Business center of many surrounding villages and with some 17 manufacturing enterprises within its borders. Two banks well managed, with ample capital and every service. Deposits over $2,000,000.
Well stocked stores with newest and best grades. Educational facilities of highest order and excellence. Four churches, fire and police protection active and efficient. Village maintains its own water system.
The New York Institute of Agriculture is located here with extensive buildings and experimental grounds. Farmingdale is an ideal village with bright future and invites the home seeker, investor and business man to come and share in its many benefits and advantages."
