Reproduction bird's-eye view map of Ithaca, New York, published by Lucien R. Burleigh in 1882. Named after the Greek Island, Ithaca is the county seat for Tompkins County and is located in the rural Finger Lakes region of the state. The quiet town on the southern shore of Cayuga Lake became home to Cornell University in 1865 when Ezra Cornell founded it here. In 1880 Leroy Smith and William Henry Baker began producing their famous shotguns based on expired Remington patents and formed the Ithaca Gun Company.

This map from 1882 shows buildings and clearly labeled street names. It is oriented with north toward the upper left.
