Description

View of Royersford, Montgomery County, P.A., 1893 / drawn & published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer.

This colorful panoramic print of Royersford, Pennsylvania was drawn by Thaddeus Mortimer Fowler and published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer in 1893. Royersford was incorporated as a borough on the eastern shore of the Schuylkill River in 1879. It was situated along the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad.

Royersford was a lively manufacturing community in the 1800's with glass factories, silk mills, embroidery works, dye and bleach works, needle works, machine works, and fire brick works. There were also numerous stove and brass works. One of the valued stove works was the Buckwalter Stove Company which began manufacturing stoves, agricultural implements and their inventive Buckwalter Cherry Seeder in 1866. The company added a six-story brick warehouse in 1888.
