Description

View of Sellersville, Bucks County, P.A., 1894 / drawn & published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer.

This panoramic print of Sellersville, Pennsylvania was drawn by Thaddeus Mortimer Fowler and published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer in 1894. Sellersville was a stop along the Bethlehem Pike on the north branch of Perkiomen Creek. The communitys interests were primarily agricultural and textile related. In the 1860's the North Pennsylvania Railroad followed the pikes route through Sellersville, better connecting it with Philadelphia. Travelers from Philadelphia found Sellersville to be a charming get-a-way destination and it received much attention for its scenery and simplicity. There were several cigar manufactories in Sellersville in the 1890's. The original Sellersville Theatre was built in 1894.

The map shows Sellersvilles labeled streets, buildings, bridges and railroad lines.
