This panoramic print of Merrimac, Massachusetts was drawn and published by George E. Norris in 1889. The township of Merrimac was eventually incorporated in 1876 in the fertile valley of the Merrimack River.

Merrimac was an agricultural and popular fishing community in its early days. The town evolved into an industrious manufacturing center in the late 1800's in the production of horse-drawn carriages.

The illustration includes labeled roads, buildings, waterways and railroad route. Insets include East Side of Square and Poyen & Co’s Block, North Side of Main St.
