This bird’s-eye view print of Williamstown, Massachusetts was drawn by Lucien R. Burleigh and published by Burleigh Lith. Est. in 1889. Williamstown was settled in the mid-1700's near the Hoosac River.

Williamstown was located in an agricultural region that emphasized sheep herding and dairy production. Woolen mills were established for the manufacture of textiles.

Williamstown’s academic interests began in 1791 with the founding of Williams College. Its large campus dominated the town. Williamstown was served by the Fitchburg Railroad.
