This panoramic print of Frostburg, Maryland was drawn and published by Thaddeus Mortimer Fowler in 1905. Frostburg was the first stop for those heading westward along the National Road.

Frostburg gained momentum with the discovery of bituminous coal in the Georges Creek Valley of the Allegheny Mountains. The valued fuel source was aggressively mined during the 1800's, and shipped via the George’s Creek & Cumberland Railroad.

Frostburg’s Normal School #2 was founded in 1898 for the instruction of teachers for Maryland’s educational system. The school is now known to as Frostburg State University.

The map includes labeled streets, buildings and railroad route. The featured inset illustrations include:
