Historic Map - Ogden City, UT - 1875

View of Ogden City, Weber County, U.T., 1875 / drawn & published by E. S. Glover.

This panoramic print of Ogden City, Utah was drawn by Eli S. Glover and published by Strobridge & Co. in 1874. In the 1850's, Mormons created Ogden City at the confluence of two rivers where a pioneer fort once stood. When Weber County was organized, Ogden was named the county seat of government. Ogden is comfortably situated between Salt Lake City, south of town, and Brigham City to the north. Ogden was about a half-day’s ride from either town. It remained an agricultural community until the late 1860's when several railroad lines began establishing termini there. From that point, Ogden became an important center for railroads such as the Union Pacific Railroad, the Central Pacific Railroad and the Utah Central Railroad, which linked with Brigham City.

The map published in 1874 includes labeled streets, buildings and railroad routes. Weber River is shown in the foreground.
