View of New Ulm, Brown County, M.N., 1870 / drawn & published by A. Ruger.

This panoramic print of New Ulm, Minnesota was drawn by Albert Ruger and published by Ruger and Stoner, Chicago Lith. Co. in 1870. New Ulm was established where the Cottonwood and Minnesota Rivers meet in the 1850's by German immigrants. The town was destroyed by fire during the Dakota Indian War of 1862.

German traditions have always been held high in the community of New Ulm. Beer making was a skill borrowed from Europe by the German-Bohemian immigrants that settled there. August Schell started his famous brewery in New Ulm in 1866.

The map includes labeled streets, buildings and vicinity. There are inset illustrations of Turner Hall and the Public School.
