For a standard classroom, a mural between 8 and 12 feet wide provides excellent visibility from all seats. The mural should be large enough that students in the back row can read major labels and identify geographic features. Custom sizing is available to match your exact wall dimensions.

Laminated classroom map murals are compatible with dry-erase markers, allowing teachers to circle countries, trace routes, and annotate during lessons. The marks wipe clean for repeated use. Non-laminated options are for display only and should not be written on.

Classroom map murals are offered on durable materials designed for institutional use. For institutional use we suggest considering the 'Durable Type II' or 'laminated vinyl'. The Type II wallcovering is ideal for public spaces like hallways, lunchrooms as the material can withstand scuffing and scrubbing. Laminated vinyl is an ideal choice for in-class instruction as it creates a huge dry-erase markable surface

Yes. The collection includes simplified, colorfully illustrated maps suited for elementary students as well as detailed political and physical maps for middle and high school classrooms. Label sizes and complexity vary to match age-appropriate reading levels. See also the Classroom Maps collection for more grade-specific options.

A side wall or back wall where the map can serve as a permanent reference without competing with the whiteboard area is ideal. Some teachers prefer a front-corner position for easy pointing during lessons. The mural should be placed at a height where all students can see it clearly from their seats.

Peel & Stick murals can be repositioned but are not intended to be moved repeatedly. For nomadic educators we suggest considering a large wall map that could be easily taken with you. We also have a durable banner option available that's not currently available among our material choices, but is available upon custom request. Contact us at [email protected]to inquire!

The wall should be clean, smooth, and free of major damage. Remove existing decorations and fill any holes or gouges with spackle before priming. For walls with significant texture, traditional paste-the-wall wallpaper adheres better than peel-and-stick options.

The most reliable approach is to order a map mural in a laminated finish from the start, as factory lamination provides even, durable coverage. Post-installation lamination is not typically practical for large wallpaper panels. Laminated murals are available as a material option when ordering.

Laminated classroom map murals are built for years of continuous service. With proper care—gentle cleaning and avoiding sharp objects—a laminated mural can last through many school years before replacement is needed. The UV-resistant inks also help maintain color accuracy over time. Chances are good the map will be outdated before the materials degrade!
