Reproduction bird's-eye view map of Sherburne, New York, published by Lucien R. Burleigh in 1887. Sherburne is a town in New York's Chenango County named after the popular song of the era, "Sherburne", written by Daniel Reed. Lyrics to the song are as follows:

"While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
All seated on the ground,
The angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around.
All glory be to God on high
And to the earth be peace,
Goodwill henceforth from heaven to men
Begin and never cease."

The map portrays Sherburne twenty years after the historic Chenango Canal, that ran through town, was filled in to accommodate the new railroad.
