Description

View of Dunbar, Fayette County, P.A., 1900 / drawn & published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer.

This panoramic print of Dunbar, Pennsylvania was drawn by Thaddeus Mortimer Fowler and published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer in 1900. The agricultural community of Dunbar was transformed when vast amounts of coke, iron and coal were discovered throughout the area in the 1800's. Interests converged into the production of these resources and Dunbar thrived with the making of iron and coke. The Baltimore and Ohio and the Pennsylvania Railroads transported these valuable minerals west from Dunbar to Uniontown and east to Connellsville and the Youghiogheny River.

The map shows Dunbars labeled streets, buildings, bridges and railroad lines.
