Historic Map - South Fork, PA - 1900

View of South Fork, Cambria County, P.A., 1900 / drawn & published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer.

This panoramic print of South Fork, Pennsylvania was drawn by Thaddeus Mortimer Fowler and published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer in 1900. South Fork was established at the confluence of South Fork Creek and Little Conemaugh River in the 1860's when coal began to be mined in the valley. South Fork mines produced much coal during this era. In 1900 mining in the region began to decline as new tariffs were enacted in the bituminous industry and a rebating system was ended.

The map from 1900 includes labeled streets, buildings, bridges and railroad routes.
