Raised Relief Map of The Moon

The Earth's Moon is represented here in stunning 3-dimensional vacuum formed vinyl. Each crater and basin that makes up the moons surface is shown in tangible raised relief. Indicated on this map are Apollo manned landing sites as well American and Soviet unmanned landing sites. Interesting facts and historic information about the Moon are also listed on the map. The map was created using topographic data acquired by Laser Image Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) instrument aboard the Clementine Spacecraft. Data was selected so there were 4 points per degree. Imagery of the Moon was generated Clementine image data at 25 pixels per degree. Each map of the Moon is produced using a Lambert Equal Area Azimuthal projection. The map shown on the left is Lunar near side and is the half which always points towards the Earth.
