This panorama print of Minneapolis, Minnesota was engraved and published by August Hagaboeck around 1873. Minneapolis was established across the Mississippi River from Saint Anthony in the 1850's. A suspension bridge was built between the towns at that time, and the twin cities merged in 1872.

Late in the 1860's, the expansion of industry around the valued waterfalls on the Saint Anthony side nearly eroded the falls away. In 1873, the falls were in the midst of a huge government funded project to reinforce the falls and restore the community’s water power source.

Meanwhile, on the west bank of the river, Minneapolis was booming with textile mills and industries of all sorts, and was served by an improving railroad service.
