De Ruyter, N.Y.

Reproduction panoramic map of DeRuyter, New York, drawn and published by Burleigh Litho. Co. in 1892. DeRuyter is a town along the Tioughnioga River in Madison County named after Dutch Admiral Michiel De Ruyter. The first settlers established a saw mill on the river and the harvest of lumber was important to the village. The area was also valued as a dairy farming community, producing excellent butter and cheese.
