Reproduction bird's-eye view map of Fairport, New York, drawn and published by Lucien R. Burleigh in 1885. Fairport, in Monroe County, was built on land reclaimed from a swamp within the town of Perinton that was drained in the 1820's as part of the Erie Canal project. The newly formed area of Fairport became a bustling port town and manufacturing center
