Bailey & Co. around 1880. Rockport and the community at Lands End began advertising for property buyers in the 1880's. What would become a popular summer home location began as a fishing village at the point of Cape Ann. The lush timber forests of the region began to be harvested in the 1600's.
In the early 1800's, granite began to be quarried in abundance at Rockport. The granite was used as building material throughout New England.
