Reproduction map of the community known as Clarendon, TX, drawn and published by T M. Fowler in 1890. Founded by Methodist clergyman, L. H. Carhart in 1878. Clarendon was established as a "sobriety settlement", contrasting with other boom towns in the Texas panhandle. Cowboys called the town "Saints Roost", and the "Saint's Roost Museum" is housed there today. The Fort Worth and Denver Railway reached Clarendon in 1887, just three years before this map was published. The Railroad Depot and the Round House are both featured on the map.
