This panoramic print of Topton, Pennsylvania was drawn by Thaddeus Mortimer Fowler and published by T. M. Fowler & James B. Moyer in 1893. Topton was established as a stop along the East Pennsylvania Railroad in the mid-1800's. Topton prospered as an ore shipping center.
A popular furniture factory was established at Topton by craftsman Tilghman DeLong in 1873. The fine furniture maker specialized in the manufacture of store and church fixtures as well as cabinets and caskets.
In 1893 Topton gained a complicated gravity-driven water system from two upper reservoirs fed by nearby natural springs.
