Map of the Boston & Woonsocket railroad routes compiled from the state map, and the plans of the different surveys returned to the joint standing committee on railroads and canals. Woonsocket lies southwest of Boston in the state of Rhode Island. During the mid-1800's Woonsocket was enjoying a robust economy due to its numerous textile mills powered by the mighty Blackstone River.
