This bird’s-eye view print of Arlington, Massachusetts was drawn and published by O. H. Bailey & Co. in 1884. Arlington was an industrious town surrounded by the lakes and ponds of the Mystic River Valley in the late 1800's. Its mills were very active and area farms bountiful.
Arlington was served by the Boston & Lowell Railroad, which was one of America’s first railway systems. A large ice manufacturing works was maintained at Spy Pond.
