Denver City was founded in 1858, during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. In 1865, the city became the Territorial Capital of Colorado Territory, and also shortened it's name to what it is today. It is now the state capital, and the largest city in Colorado. This beautiful map provides a look back to the early beginnings of the city. Includes insets of it's early buildings. The map was originally printed on a very large scale and the printed index is legible only with magnification at this print size. Complete reference list below.
