Description
This aero-view print of Canton, Massachusetts was drawn and published by Hughes & Bailey in 1917. Canton, southwest of Boston, was settled by Europeans in the mid-1600's and incorporated as a town in 1797. American patriot Paul Revere built and operated a copper rolling mill in Canton in the early 1800's.
In the early 1900's, Canton was an important railroad junction, and well located suburb to Boston.
The stone-arched railroad viaduct pictured here was built in 1835. It is still in use today.
