This aero-view print of Tulsa, Oklahoma was drawn by Thaddeus Mortimer Fowler and published by Fowler & Kelly in 1918. Tulsa was known as the “Oil Capital of the World” following a major oil strike at nearby Red Fork. This rich deposit of oil and natural gas came to be known as Glenn Pool.
Tulsa, located along the banks of the Arkansas River, attracted investors, speculators, tradesmen and a large number of workers seeking employment during this era, as the oil-well began producing over 120,000 barrels of oil per day.
The map includes labeled streets, bridges, buildings and railroad routes. It features inset illustrations of the Municipal Building and ABC Extension.
