Schwenksville lies on the banks of Perkiomen Creek, halfway between Collegeville and Perkiomenville along the Reading Railroad’s Perkiomen Valley corridor. Schwenksville, named after blacksmith George Schwenk, was a popular resort town in the 1800's. It was an important ice manufacturing town in the late 1800's as nearby Philadelphia households and businesses were acquiring more and more iceboxes.
